Dorothy Bowles Ford was an American artist born in 1918 and she passed away in 2003. She was known for her abstract expressionist paintings and her use of vibrant colors and bold brushstrokes. Ford studied at the Museum Art School in Portland, Oregon and later received a fellowship to study at the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan.
Throughout her career, Dorothy Bowles Ford exhibited her work in numerous galleries and museums, including the Whitney Museum of American Art, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Portland Art Museum. She was also a member of the American Abstract Artists group.
